Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have faced increased attacks in the past few days

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused power cuts in multiple districts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Several individuals were hurt while inhabitants in the city's east were left without electricity and encountered disruption to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a distinct aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, according to regional authorities.

Moscow has escalated assaults on energy facilities over the past few days, while officials has called for "real steps" from allies to increase pressure on Moscow.

"What is required is not window dressing but firm measures - from the US, European nations and the Group of Seven - in delivering protection systems and applying penalties," was stated in a social media post.

Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and several dozen projectiles struck the country's power systems, describing such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

Energy officials said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and technical staff were working to restore power.

A barrage of missiles damaged power facilities and apartment buildings in the capital.

Five out of the nine people wounded in the attacks on the city have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by municipal representatives.
